In-House Diagnostics
In-clinic Laboratory
We have the ability to perform extensive blood analysis tests with our IDEXX in-house diagnostic machines. With our machines, we can evaluate red blood cell and white blood cell numbers, blood chemistry to evaluate liver and kidney function, electrolytes, thyroid levels and even pick specific chemistry values when needed for rechecks. Our clinic staff is also well trained in microscopic evaluation of skin scrapes, ear cytology, fine needle aspirates, urine and fecal samples for quick diagnostic results.
In addition, we have access to the IDEXX Reference lab for more thorough or advance testing when needed. Results are back within 24 hours.
Digital Radiographs
Westside Family Pet Clinic has a state of the art digital radiographs (x-ray) to give us the best imaging to help diagnose your pet. We often look for fractured bones, gastrointestinal disease, help evaluate heart disease, and arthritis. Digital radiographs allow us to also send your pet's x-rays to a specialist if needed for further treatment or consultation.
Ultrasound
Our staff is trained in using ultrasound imaging to help in our diagnostic search. This shows us a detailed picture of internal organs, we use this technology to diagnose early pregnancies, look for urinary stones, inspect lymph nodes and look at liver architecture. Dr. Pedersen has taken continuing courses in echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart) for more advanced diagnostics of heart disease in dogs and cats.
